Many meth users often find they cannot function without their drug of choice. Their craving to use is greater than their desire to manage their health, finances and relationships. - Hyperactivity
- Hyper Vigilance
- Paranoia
- Teeth Grinding: Bruxism
- Picking: Digging into their skin, mostly in face and forearms but any body part is common.
- Decline in Hygiene: Especially dental hygiene
- Tinkering: Preoccupation with disassembling something, such as; a computer or microwave.
- Tangential Conversations: Jumping from one topic to the other.
- Insomnia: Over time, meaning 2 to 3 days without sleep, they become delusional. The meth user begins hearing and seeing things that are not there.
- Grandiosity: Unrealistic thoughts of fame and money. This usually happens soon after use while experiencing euphoria brought about by a huge release of dopamine.
- Ego-dystonic sexual behaviors.
- Regression: Instead of growing intellectually and emotionally they return to an earlier developmental stage.
- Immature Appearance: Dressing inappropriately for most situations. Inappropriate appearance varies quite a bit between sexes and age but there is a look that is easy to spot by other users.
- Self-pity: Thoughts of being persecuted, suppressed and oppressed. This behavior usually occurs when they run out of methamphetamine.
- Rationalization: I get more work done on meth.
- Justification: Constantly building a case against others to justify their own behavior.
- Distorted Thinking: Perception of reality is continuously centered on how the world negatively affects their life. At the same time ignoring your own unethical, inappropriate and illegal behavior. This behavior is particularly destructive because violence, ether aggression or passive aggression is often the result. The prisons are full of meth users with distorted thinking.
- Inability to empathize and sympathize for others.
